課程概述 |
1. 本課程適合學習時數每週未達6小時，且總時數少於 100 小時的華語者選修，使用教材為《實用視聽華語一》（第五課～第十二課）。本課程旨在培養學習者聽說讀寫各方面的基本能力，並特別著重於聽說訓練，期望學習者在學完本課程後，能習得處理日常生活事務的基本表達能力。此外，盼能透過課堂上的師生互動與討論，使學習者了解華人與臺灣文化。
This course is for the students who have taken Chinese for less than 100 hours (6hrs/week). This course aims to develop students’ language proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing. By the end of this course, students should be able to communicate effectively with Chinese speakers on a variety of daily topics. Moreover, students will have a deeper understanding of Chinese language and culture.
2. 本課程授課語言以中文為主，英文為輔。
This course will be conducted mainly in Chinese. English will be used only when referring to basic grammar principles and relevant key points.

課程目標 |
1. 強化初級的聽說讀寫能力，並以提升聽說技巧為核心目標。
Develop the basic language skills, especially listening and speaking skills.
2. 學會如何得體使用華語進行日常生活對話。
Learn how to use Chinese appropriately in daily conversations.
3. 能讀懂課程範圍內的正體字，並能寫出至少一百字的短文表達個人想法。
Recognize traditional Chinese characters from the textbook and write a short essay of at least 100 characters to express opinions. |

課程要求 |
1. 上課不可無故遲到或早退。遲到或早退超過二十分鐘，視同缺席一小時。
Attend the class on time. Arriving more than 20 minutes late or leaving 20 minutes early will be counted as a one-hour absence.
2. 每次上課皆須攜帶課本、講義。
Bring all the materials you are supposed to use when you come to class.
3. 上課應積極參與課堂討論，不應從事與課程無關的活動。
It is essential to participate in classroom activities and class discussion. You should not write homework or do other things unrelated to the course during class time.
4. 上課請說中文，不說其他非中文語言。
Chinese is the language of the classroom. You must speak Chinese at all times.
5. 上課可以喝飲料，但不能吃東西。
Water and soft drinks are allowed, but no food is allowed in class.
6. 上課期間請將手機轉為震動或靜音。
Phones must be set on silent mode during class time. |

出席 Attendance |
15% |
(1) 每次上課皆應簽到。
Students must sign their name on the attendance sheet.
(2) 上課不可無故遲到或早退。遲到或早退超過二十分鐘，視同缺席一小時。
Attend the class on time. Arriving more than 20 minutes late or leaving 20 minutes early will be counted as a one-hour absence.
(3) 若因故無法出席，應在上課以前寫E-mail向老師請假。每學期至多可缺席九個小時（含遲到及早退），不扣分。超過九個小時，每小時扣出席成績1分。
Notify the instructor in advance if you are unable to attend class. Students are allowed a maximum of 9 hours excused absence (including late-coming and early-leaving). From the 10th hour on, one point will be deducted for each hour of absence.
(4) 缺課的人，應在下次上課前詢問同學當天上課的內容，以及作業和小考的範圍。
If you miss a class, you should ask a classmate about what has been taught that day, what the assignment is and what is going to be covered on the dictation quiz. |

課堂表現及參與 Performance & Participation |

1 point will be deducted from your performance score for each violation of the above regulations. |

作業 Homework |
15% |
(1) 應準時繳交作業，遲交該份作業成績扣10分，且應在一周內補交，超過規定時間視同未交。
All assignments must be handed in on time. 10 points will be deducted for late homework. Assignments not received within one week past the due date will receive a grade of zero.
(2) 若請假，則應提前繳交作業或請同學代交，否則視同未交。
You should hand in your homework early (before the deadline) or ask a classmate to hand in your homework for you if you will be absent on the day it is due. |

平時測驗與小考 Quizzes and Review Tests |
15% |
(1) 每次上課（期中考及期末考除外）都有聽寫小考。上課鐘響就考試，遲到、請假或缺席者不補考。聽寫成績中，最差的五次分數將不予計算。
A dictation quiz will be given at the start of every class (except when taking the midterm and final exams). No make-up quiz will be provided. The lowest 5 quiz scores will be dropped.
(2) 每上完一課會安排一次複習考，內容為筆試（含聽力測驗）。
A review test will be given at the end of every lesson.
(3) 如有作弊行為，當次考試以零分計算。
Any student who is caught cheating will receive a grade of zero on the test. |

期中考 Midterm Exam |
20% |
(1) 包括筆試（含聽力測驗）及口試。
The exam consists of a listening section, a written section and an oral section.
(2) 期中考將於指定日期舉行，不能補考。若因無法避免的因素無法參加考試，須提前告知老師並擇期補考，否則將以零分計算。
The midterm exam will be given only on the assigned days. There will be no make-up exam unless there are absolutely unavoidable circumstances such as serious illness, or a death in the family. If you are unable to attend the exam due to circumstances beyond your control, you must notify the teacher in advance and request an alternative exam time or date. |
